ARBOR RIDGE AT BROOKMEADE
becomes area’s first Retirement Community
RHINEBECK, N.Y. —To meet the needs of Hudson Valley’s older adults, Arbor Ridge at Brookmeade became the area’s first senior living community.
Situated just minutes from the scenic, historic Village of Rhinebeck, the community will share the 75-acre campus of the renowned Baptist Home, which has been located in northern Dutchess County since 1977.
In keeping with the mission of The Baptist Home, residency at Arbor Ridge enhances the quality of life for older adults while encouraging independence, wellness and self-development.
“Arbor Ridge is designed to meet the needs of the area’s active adults, 62 and older, who want to continue living in the area but whose housing needs may have shifted,” said Bob Monohan, a local resident and Assistant Treasurer of The Baptist Home’s Board of Directors. “With almost 30 percent of the area’s population at least 65 years of age and Rhinebeck gaining prominence as a favored retirement destination, it became crucial to develop housing that addressed the current and future needs of residents.”
Designed by Angerame Architects, P.C., an Albany-based firm specializing in retirement communities, Arbor Ridge will reflect the charm of a rural Rhinebeck setting.
According to Carol Lindsey, Executive Director, amenities and services planned for the community are geared to the interests of older adults and were based on extensive research conducted in the area.
“Arbor Ridge will include a dining room as well as a café, indoor swimming pool, walking paths, fitness and wellness center, craft and hobby workshop, library, card room and hair salon; all of which are important to area residents,” she said.
Arbor Ridge consists of 54 independent living apartments, creating a strong sense of community and personal attention. The community also offers 26 assisted living suites known as The Terraces.
One- and two-bedrooms in different floor plans, give residents the opportunity to select apartments geared to personal preferences.
“Arbor Ridge is an extension of The Baptist Home’s commitment to the elderly,” said Monohan. “Prospective residents can look forward to a lifestyle centered on quality and focused on wellness.”
